Come and Get It

Posted on Wed May 31st, 2023 @ 6:51pm by Captain Etan Kaz & Lieutenant JG Sel PsyD & Lieutenant Commander Athon Scordato & Lieutenant Sabine St. James & Lieutenant Skot Ryder & Lieutenant Tequila Dreik

Mission: 02-The Line Widens
Location: Deck 10, Captain's Cabin

The refit was well underway and many of the upper decks had already received beautiful facelifts. At the behest of Captain Kaz much of the 'vintage charm' had been preserved. The central stairway in the upper module, the observation deck, and command deck all restored to a their former glory though modernized slightly.

One area that was modified was the Captain's cabin. Making use of a small lounge are on Deck 10, the cabin was extended from it original floor plan to include a larger living space and a fully functional kitchen.

Given the extended space he had been afforded, Kaz thought it a great opportunity to have his staff get together and talk about how to move forward.

Kaz had sent the invitation and, at the appointed time, thought he would cook a meal for his staff and set to work in the kitchen.

Skot was excited to give the Captain his housewarming gift, a specially ordered coffee maker from Risa. 'I should really get me one of these things,' he thought as he looked over the sparkling chrome. As he entered the Captain's new cabin he couldn't help but take in the site, "They really went all out for you Cap didn't they?"

"They sure did. Really beyond expectations." Kaz looked up from his stove. "That for me?" He asked with a sly smile.

Tiki arrived moments after Skot. "Suck up," the words were tossed casually toward him as she crossed the room, hands smoothing over her denim clad hips before pouring herself a drink from the bottles on the table. "You may wanna have maintenance check your vents," she quipped. "There could be glitter bombs up there."

Skot laughed, "You know, medical didn't fare too well on the last tactical drill. May need to run another one here soon, with my "special" attention?"

The pots on the stove hissed with noise as Etan welcomed Tiki as well.

Sabine arrived not long after, fixated on a PADD and wearing her uniform jacket open, though naturally with the black undershirt under it in full view. She looked up from the PADD for a moment, as if attempting to determine where she was before setting it down on a table.

"Right, yes. Hello, Captain. Lieutenant. Doctor." She said to each in turn, "I was mapping out the changes for Security. Nice aesthetics."

Kaz nodded and waved.

Tiki rolled her eyes slightly before taking a mouthful of her drink. "Do any of you understand the meaning of the term 'off duty?'" she asked rhetorically before turning her attention to the door behind her as it opened.

A moment later, the door opened and Scordato entered the room. He was the last of the senior staff to arrive, in part because he almost hadn't come. After a rather long, frustrating day in the lab, he hadn't exactly felt like spending the entire evening socializing. However, an invitation from the captain wasn't something you passed up without a very good reason, especially if you were the "new guy". So, there he was.

"Are you planning to suck up too?" Tiki asked, raising an eyebrow slightly as she cast a glance over Scordato before shaking her head and sinking down into a seat, hands wrapped around the glass as she watched the Captain in the kitchen. "So, what's on the menu?" she finally asked.

Kaz smiled at the question. He was quite proud of what he had put together. "Well, to start, we have a baked oskoid salad with uttaberry coulis. Then we have my take on a red spice stew with krada. For the main course, I've been slow roasting lamb , and we'll have that with potatoes and roasted Earth vegetables. Dessert is Karin chocolate puffs, but I will admit I didn't make those."His smile grew. "Theres lots of wine, and just about anything else you could want to drink, help yourself, the food is almost ready."

"Off duty? Yes, I know the term." Sabine replied with some confusion to Tiki's question, "I'm not sure what you're getting at, Doctor. My post is covered and I wanted to look over the new changes. They are new. Something I've not seen yet here."

"Hey doc, why don't you set the table while I check on the lamb." Kaz asked, hoping to keep things civil. "Commander Scordato can help."

Tiki was about to respond to Sabine, but the Captain's request derailed her. Instead, she scowled, finished her drink and stood up, moving into the small kitchen to start gathering plates and utensils before stopping at the replicator and making a request.

As she returned to the table, she stopped next to Skot, who had chosen his seat and set a freshly replicated plastic plate in front of him. "I chose trains, you seem like the choo choo type," she quipped lightly. "And because I know you're a big boy now, you can even have your own cutlery," she added before placing down chunky looking toddler sized plastic cutlery either side of the plate. "There you go," she added with a grin and a pat on his head before she started setting the rest of the table.

Etan turned back to his staff. "Lamb is resting. Shall we tuck into some oskoid salad?" He asked, stepping towards the table with a tray of small plates balanced atop his hand. The Trill placed a serving at each spot and moved to his seat at the table. "Dig in." He smiled looking at his staff settle into to what was hopefully the first of many meals to come.
