The Coup:Part I

Posted on Tue Sep 28th, 2021 @ 5:53pm by Autarch Korzenten Rej Tov-AA

Mission: 00 -Life on the Line
Location: Ab Tzenketh
Timeline: MD00-1900 Hours

Korzenten Rej Tov-AA had been Autarch of the Tzenkethi Coalition for more than two decades. But even before that he was pre-destined for an important role within Tzenkethi society, having been assigned to the Tov or Government Leader echelon based on his near perfect genetic makeup in utero. The weight of that followed him throughout his life, and when testing in primary schooling identified him as Rej, meaning he was a suitable candidate for Autarch, his life took an even more extreme turn.

He spent the rest of his life among the ruling class. You see, the concept of family is quite different among the Tzenkethi. Because echelon is decided based on genetic testing before birth any difference in echelon can split up a child from their biological parents the moment they’re born.

Korzenten’s situation was like this. His birth parents were members of the Yor or Merchant echelon, and so he was brought up away from them and among other members of his own echelon. It is a system that can be confusing to outsiders but it is a way of life for the Tzenkethi.

Anti Federation sentiment had also become a way of life on the Tzenkethi homeworld. It started after the Tzenkethi’s first war with the Federation and carried on throughout Korzenten’s reign as Autarch. Though Korzenten himself was a bit on the fence when it came to the issue of Federation relations, many of his cabinet advisors were staunch in their dislike of the Federation.

Chief among the Anti Federationists was Lorqueten Siv Lom-A, who was the leader of the Tzenkethi military. Lorqueten found a way to make almost every issue discussed among the Tzelnira about the Federation. Everything, in his eyes, was their fault. He came by this viewpoint naturally, as the biological offspring of the previous Autarch who had been famed for his Anti Federation policies.

This day in particular had been fraught with raised voices and argumentative statements, and nothing productive had spawned from them. Korzenten returned to the Autarch’s Palace feeling exhausted from the heated exchange, primarily from his back and forth with Lorqueten. He had a fear that not putting his ideals in line with those of his General put him at odds with the entirety of the Tzenkethi military. This fear was confirmed soon after the Autarch returned to his residence.

Beyond the heavy door of his private apartments the familiar sounds of disruptor fire filled the air, stopping Korzenten dead in his stride. Two of the Autarch’s personal guards pushed in and sealed the door behind them.

“What is going on?” Korzenten demanded, looking slightly panicked as the guards approached him.

“The Tzelnira have been taken into custody by order of Lorqueten Siv Lom-A. The palace has been infiltrated, Your Majesty.” One said, gripping his bladed staff tightly.

“So it has begun.” The Autarch said, narrowing his eyes. “Lorqueten seeks to take control of the Coalition for himself. Do your sworn duty and protect your Autarch. Get me to safety.”
